Why is philanthropy so
important at CWIRE?

What Sets Us Apart

Let’s be honest—if you’re here reading this, chances are you’re a woman working in the real estate industry in Canada. That makes us the lucky ones.

Maybe “lucky” isn’t the perfect word, but it’s undeniable that many women across Canada face challenges that we’re in a position to help address.

At CWIRE, we believe philanthropy shouldn’t be an afterthought. It should be built into the foundation of every business, starting with the business plan. We encourage our colleagues to embrace the spirit of giving throughout their careers, and joining CWIRE is one way to make that commitment.

To support this vision, we are establishing a Giving Committee to oversee a philanthropy fund created through CWIRE. A portion of every subscription, conference, and retreat fee will go toward programs that empower women across Canada.

Giving back isn’t just something we do—it’s part of who we are. When one of us wins, we all win.

“As we work to create light for others, we naturally light our own way.”

In 2020, Jacquie McCarnan and her daughters founded The North Van Cares Foundation (NVCF) to empower the community to support its most vulnerable neighbours during the COVID-19 pandemic. What started as a small act of kindness has grown into North Vancouver’s go-to organization for grassroots community action.

Recognized as a REALTOR® Care Award finalist by the Canadian Real Estate Association, Jacquie and her team have created countless opportunities for locals to step up—through grocery (and beer!) deliveries, the popular “Holiday Helper” campaign, and lasting neighbour-to-neighbour connections.

NVCF has also raised thousands for local causes like Backpack Buddies, North Shore Rescue, and the North Shore Black Bear Society, and over $140,000 for victims of the Lynn Valley tragedy in 2021.

In recent years, the foundation has expanded its reach with the annual North Van Cares Gala—a night of fun, dancing, and fundraising for North Shore charities.

Jacquie’s passion for community extends beyond North Vancouver. She also founded the Canadian Women in Real Estate Foundation (CWIRE), a national organization empowering women in real estate through education, mentorship, and connection.

Join us in building stronger communities and creating meaningful change—together.
